Elyse is a proud mom of 5 year old Camden, 3 year old Parker and 1 year old Riley. She married the love of her life, Jared, in December of 2008. After they were married, they resided in Logan, UT where Jared was attending school at Utah State University. During the summers, Jared managed a summer sales team so they have lived in Edina, MN and various parts of California. They are so happy to be back in Utah where they are close to family and friends! Elyse loves to travel, especially to anywhere warm and exotic! She loves spending time with her family, hiking or enjoying the outdoors. She loves to bake, shop and jog (to balance out her love for dessert)! She thinks there is nothing better than relaxing on the couch in sweat pants watching Modern Family or the E! Channel with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s in hand!
Elyse’s favorite Six Sisters’ Dinner:
I am OBSESSED with our Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken! It is hands down my family’s most favorite meal. It took quite a few tries to get it just right, and now it is perfect!
Elyse’s favorite Six Sisters’ Dessert:
My favorite dessert recipe from the blog would be the Cake Batter Blondies. I love cake batter! These are so easy to make and super delicious. I literally ate a whole pan of these by myself once. I have no self-control.
One random fact about Elyse:
My family may already know this, but I love vacuuming. I vacuum my house every single day. I love the look of clean carpets (vacuum lines included). I may be a little OCD.
Elyse’s favorite memory with all the Sisters:
My favorite memory with all of the sisters would be our trip to Hawaii. It was the last trip our whole family went on together before any of us were married and we had a blast! We may have come home with terrible sunburn and a case of lockjaw from a bad snorkeling trip, but it was still so fun!
Elyse’s favorite Movie:
I am a big Sandra Bullock fan, and I absolutely love The Proposal. I seriously laugh so hard that I cry when I am watching it!
Elyse’s worst cooking experience:
I once attempted to make baked mozzarella sticks. They were a total disaster! They looked good going into it, but when I took them out of the oven, they were literally a pan of melted cheese. And no, that didn’t stop me from eating it. What can I say? I love food! (That sounds really gross now that I think of it.)
Elyse’s favorite hobby:
This is going to sound very lazy, but this blog keeps me so busy that I am too exhausted to have many hobbies! I honestly love sitting on my couch, watching TV and eating ice cream in sweat pants. Not sure if that even counts as a hobby, but if I had spare time, that is totally how I would want to spend it! If I had more time (and energy), I love hiking and being outdoors with my family!
A hobby Elyse wished she had:
I wish I could sing better! My poor kids don’t get too many lullabies sung to them because my lack of pitch would probably startle them rather than put them to sleep.
Elyse’s most embarrassing moment:
I was nine months pregnant with my first baby and about a week before my due date, when I had had it! I told my husband we were going for a jog (keep in mind I had gained like 65 pounds and jogging was definitely not something I had done in a long time). We made it around the block and I started having contractions, so we decided to keep going. I thought if I picked up my pace and tried to sprint that maybe it would push that baby right out! As soon as I tried to sprint, my out of shape body fell to the ground. We were on a busy street and I was lying by the gutter and couldn’t get up. I am sure it was quite the site! Anyway, the impact of the fall made me pee my pants. I totally peed all over myself in front of my husband and all the people passing by! When I finally got up off the ground, I had to walk home the rest of the way with my nasty pants for everyone to see. My husband still laughs so hard about it. That was pretty embarrassing!
An object Elyse couldn’t live without:
I could not live without chapstick. I constantly have it with me. My husband thinks I am a little bit crazy, but I would seriously die without it!
Elyse’s favorite family tradition:
My favorite family tradition is our Christmas Eve talent show. I love seeing all of the crazy acts that everyone comes up with. I have to say, I think my ventriloquist dummy act is still one of the best! Haha!
