Make and share holiday memories with the FREE OneDay App!

A couple of weeks ago, we introduced you to one of our favorite free apps:
The OneDay App.

Screen Shot 2014-10-28 at 12.38.20 AM

We received so many positive comments and emails about how much you loved this app that we wanted to share with you some of the upgrades and changes that have happened with the app since that post.

First of all, this app is currently still FREE, so hurry and download the app today!

OneDay-App-Review-on-SixSistersStuff-700x700

Now, with the holidays right around the corner and Halloween just days away, I know that most of you are going to be running around like crazy with final preparations and making sure that everything is ready for the perfect holiday season. But really, isn’t the holiday season a time to make some special memories? Holidays were always my favorite time of year and now with this app, it’s easy to record those memories in a matter of seconds.

Let me quickly explain what the OneDay app is all about . . .

OneDay is a free app that you can download on your phone or tablet. And I promise- it’s incredibly user-friendly.
There are many different themes for different ages (from babies to grandparents- they’ve got you covered!).

First, decide what you want your “story” (a.k.a. recorded memories) to be about.

IMG_1151

Depending on which story you chose, you will be prompted with the question to ask the person being interviewed. Push the red button to start recording.

IMG_1152

After you are finished recording the answer to the question, push the red button again to stop recording. Click “save” to keep the short video (or delete it and do it again . . . as I have done many times!).

IMG_1153

You can continue to record more questions or you can save this story for another day to finish later. When I have made these videos, I usually ask 3 or 4 questions in a row . . . I figure that I have my child’s attention and that I had better take advantage of it while I can!

IMG_1154

Once I feel like I have enough content, I exit out of the questions and click play. It takes a couple of seconds to stitch them together and add some music, but within less than a minute, you have a little piece of today that you will cherish forever! The best part about this app: it’s so easy to use. You don’t have to do any editing or have a degree in graphic design- the app does all of that for you.

IMG_1155

From here, you can email the video to family and friends, upload the video to YouTube, share it on Facebook, or do anything else with it that you would like to. It really doesn’t get any easier than that!

And just in time for Halloween, they have released a couple of new Halloween questions . . . you can check out me asking my son those questions here:

My favorite video was the one I made with my 2 year old daughter –  she has watched me make a couple videos of each of her older siblings and wanted to get in on the action. Of course, it wouldn’t work to ask her questions, so I quickly browsed through the different stories available and noticed that there was a section for babies and toddlers. They were simple and sweet and there is an option to flip the camera around so that she could watch herself while we recorded her. Anyway, her darling video is one of my favorites (is there anything better than a happy, clean baby fresh out of the tub? I think not!):

The holidays are incredibly busy, but there are so many magical moments that you won’t want to miss – this app will help you record those special memories and have them forever. And since the app is completely free, you definitely will want to add it to your phone or tablet!

*At this time, this app is only available on the iPhone, however, the Android app is in development and testing and is expected to be released in early 2015! We will keep you posted. In about two weeks, you can sign up on their website to be on an email list to be notified when it’s released.

Craft Fail – the Book!

We’re going to get real here for just a moment. If you’ve heard us speak, or watched any of our videos, you know we are not professionals by any means at all. Of course, what we put out here on our blog is definitely our best work, but a lot of the time, you don’t see the “behind the scenes” work.  We are constantly trying new things – both recipes and projects – but only the best of the best make it onto Six Sisters’ Stuff. At least once a week we get picture messages from each other of recipes or crafts that have horribly failed.

That’s why we were ere so excited we heard about this book:

craftfailCraftFail: When Homemade Goes Horribly Wrong

It had us rolling on the floor, in tears, laughing uncontrollably. Maybe it was because it had been a long, stressful day, or maybe because we were going on too little sleep – but seriously. Whether you’re an expert crafter or a novice, this book will definitely get you laughing. From home decor, to fashion, holiday, kids crafts, and foods – the book is full of hilarious disasters. With full-color photos and priceless commentary, it will have you smiling from start to finish.

Our personal favorite? These Reindeer Marshmallow Pops!

 reindeer-craft-fail
The eyes. It’s like a car crash…and you just can’t quite look away!

And the longer you look at it, the funnier it gets. :)

We know what it’s like to work so hard on something to have one sleeve too short, or one key ingredient missing, or something fall apart right after hours of work. It’s frustrating! But – as Heather points out in her book, you learn more from trying and failing than not trying at all. And when things do go terribly wrong, you can find comfort that you are not alone – and Craft Fail is proof. :)

It’s the perfect gift for the crafting expert or novice (or if you just need a good laugh!)

You can purchase it on Amazon through the link below!

2 Ingredient Homemade Peanut Butter

Wait!!! I know what you are thinking! You need a super expensive blender or food processor to make homemade peanut butter. NOPE! I have used many blenders in my day but my favorite is a Ninja. I am not being paid or given any products to write about it. I’m just telling you my favorite. :)

The Ninja I have comes with the blender and a food processor. You can pay upwards of $600 for a nice blender/food processor. The Ninja is a much better price! You can find it HERE if you are interested.

Okay,Okay
Back to the Peanut Butter!

So… my husband tried some homemade peanut butter at work and loved it. My first thought was… I love my JIF too much to give it up. He bought some salted peanuts at Walmart (they come in the big containers for pretty cheap) and convinced me to make it.

It was so easy and I am never going back! It really was so good! I have tried a few recipes and this one is my favorite!

2 Ingredient Homemade Peanut Butter
Author:
Prep time:
Total time:

Serves: 32

Ingredients
  • 4 cups dry roasted peanuts (salted or unsalted, whatever you prefer! I have tried both and like salted a little more.)
  • 2 teaspoons of peanut oil (Vegetable oil will work too)

Instructions
  1. Place the peanuts and oil in the bowl of a food processor and and process for 2 to 3 minutes. That may seem like a long time but it takes that long to get creamy. Stop it every 45 seconds and scrap down the sides.
  2. I have made it a few ways. The longer you keep it in the blender, the smoother it will become. I like mine a little crunchy so I didn’t process it as long.
  3. Store the peanut butter in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. I stir mine with a knife a few times before each use.
  4. Makes about 2 cups

2 Peanutbutter 2

When making peanut butter I would suggest using a NinjaVitamix, or Blendtec. You might kill your machine if you are using a non professional blender.

The best part is, you can make other butters too! Cashew Butter is also amazing!
