I am not the organized sister of the family. Elyse wins that one by a long ways. This year is going to be different. One of my New Years Resolutions is to have organized home. I am starting with my kitchen and working from there. Here are my tips that I’m using to actually get my kitchen organized! I’ve already started and it is going very well! Hopefully this list will help you out!
The first step to organize your kitchen is to find something that works for you. I had a friend once that organized my kitchen while I was out for the day and I tried so hard to get used to the places she put everything. A few days later I ended up putting my stuff back to where I like it!
Put your least used items up high, or on a shelf. There is no reason to have it taking up space on your counter top if you hardly use it. Then put your most used items on your counter. For me I put my Slow Cooker and Blender on my counter top.
Keep your pots and pans close to the stove, making it easier to grab them when you need them.
Not sure where to store your brooms or mops? This little device will store them on your wall and take up as little space as possible.
These things are best sellers on Amazon. You can find it HERE
Keep things together that go together. Keep wood spoons with wood spoons, and spices with all spices. you get the idea.
Things that are used in the kitchen don’t necessarily need to be stored there. I have an electric wheat grinder that is rather large and I don’t have room in my little kitchen. I like to keep it in my bedroom closet.
6 Piece Cabinet Organizer – I just purchased this for my new house. I just didn’t have a lot of room in my last house so this should help me be more organized in my new one!
It is time to de-clutter. If you have items that you haven’t used in over a year…. it is time to get rid of them. My husband and I are moving on Saturday and he challenged me to get rid of everything I hadn’t used in the past 6 months. I couldn’t believe how much stuff I really got rid of. Also get rid of multiple items and broken items.
Stack Items vertically. If you don’t have a beautiful set up like this one…(I wish mine looked like that) you can get one HERE for only $8.50 that will fit nicely in your cabinet.
I use to have a drawer called the everything drawer. My friend introduced to these Drawer Dividers – You can divide flatware or utensils within drawers. I LOVE them! Do everything drawer actually is organized.
Keeping your Refrigerator clean and organized is hard work. My friend Jenny Layton is genius when it comes to organizing your fridge. Here is her link: http://www.thehappygal.com/how-to-organize-your-refrigerator/
Use a thin shower curtain rod to hang your cleaning supplies underneath your sink.
Have a lot of Food Magazines that you usually just throw away after a few months? Get organized and make your magazine recipes and all of your print outs into one big recipe book.
