Six Sisters’ Stuff presents: Build Your Blog Conference 2014!

Build Your Blog ConferenceAbout 1 year after starting, we realized that there were some amazing opportunities to turn this blog into a business. We started looking for ways to grow our social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc) and reach more people out there in this huge blogging land and were so overwhelmed by all the things that we had to do. We had no idea of where to even start! One day we were talking about how we wish there was a book that gave us all the answers of what we needed to do . . . and then the idea for our eBooks were born (10 Ways to Grow Your Blog and 10 Ways to Make Money Blogging). We didn’t claim to be professionals, but we just wanted to share what worked for us so that hopefully others could benefit from our experiences (it was a lot of trial and error!). The response that we received from you was so OVERWHELMING! We have sold thousands of our books, received incredible feedback and we are so grateful.

We started talking more and thought it would be so great to have a conference for bloggers where they could just learn the basics of blogging- where to start, ways to help you grow, and how to turn it into money. So, we started brainstorming and the Build Your Blog Conference was born. We wanted it to be a one-day conference that happened on a Saturday so that even busy moms could attend the entire conference. We also wanted it to be affordable to everyone- which is why we offered a special price of $99 for a ticket. We weren’t sure how well the first conference would be- we had never hosted any type of conference before!- but it turned out to be a smashing success! We had about 300 bloggers in attendance (which made for incredible networking!) and the speakers and classes were awesome. We were so thankful for all our amazing speakers who are some of the best bloggers out there! They are definitely experts in their fields and had so much incredible information to share.

The cute and incredible talented Brooke Walker from KSL 5 TV’s Studio 5 (a nationally-ranked lifestyle show that highlights many bloggers) was our keynote speaker and she set the tone perfectly for the entire day. She talked about being an “influencer”as a blogger and how its a good thing to highlight the positive things that happen everyday.  She said,”In these days we’re bombarded by so many negative things in life.  Watching and listening to the news can be pretty depressing.  It’s not a bad thing to put your best out there and to always be talking about the positive things in life.”

The rest of the day was devoted to classes all about learned how to grow your blog. We covered topics such as Pinterest, photography, what to expect the first year of blogging, all about writing and marketing an eBook, how to make money blogging, how to blog without getting burned out, how to make your blog stand out, blog design, food blogging panels, and social media classes to help take your blog to the next level!

Each class lasted for an hour and was jam-packed with info. People seriously couldn’t take notes fast enough!

Since three classes were going on each hour, we recorded each class so that the attendees could listen and watch on their own time after the conference (all recordings were included in the price of your ticket).     I’m not sure what else to do – Whoever’s behind the BYBconference Twitter account has been DMing me, asking for my e-mail address. Whenever I try to DM back, I get a message saying I can’t because that account doesn’t follow me. I’ve tweeted that account telling them so and have even tweeted my e-mail address…twice. No luck. I’ve also e-mailed the address on the BYBconference site, with no success. Can you help, by any chance? I’d be so grateful.
