Hot Chocolate Cookies Recipe {with Truvia® Baking Blend}

As Truvia® ambassadors, we have had the opportunity to try some of the products, and we have fallen in love with the Truvia® Baking Blend. This natural, gluten-free sweetener is a great way to decrease your calorie intake – so it’s perfect to help you keep your resolutions in 2013! It is hard to completely cut out a certain food group (for us – that would be sweets!) but with the reduced calories in the Baking Blend, you don’t have to miss out on what you love (and you can keep your goals on track!).
Hot Chocolate Cookies Recipe {with Truvia® Baking Blend} Recipe:
(Makes about 5 dozen)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup Truvia® Baking Blend*
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons hot chocolate mix (just the powder)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup Truvia® Baking Blend*
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons hot chocolate mix (just the powder)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
(*You can substitute 1 cup granulated sugar)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream together shortening, softened butter, brown sugar and Truvia® Baking Blend until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine baking powder, baking soda, salt, flour and hot chocolate powder. Add to the butter/sugar mixture and combine. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill dough in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes to avoid cookies from flattening.

After your dough has chilled, drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes or until set up but the centers are still soft.

So can these be made with regular sugar? If so how much sugar instead of the Truvia? My son makes some yummy chocolate chip cookies and my birthday is this weekend so I’m hoping I can talk him into making THESE for me!
Yes it can be made with regular sugar. Just substitute 1 cup of granulated sugar in place of the truvia. -The Six Sisters
would mini marshmallows work in place of the chips? that would make it more “hot chocolate” like
