Mix up your Movie Night: Alice in Wonderland

We’ve teamed up with the Dating Divas to spice up your movie date night:

ย And today we are having fun ALICE IN WONDERLAND STYLE!

First, share the fun with everyone by inviting your date and other friends with this cute announcement.
Then, set up a “photo booth” for your friends to enjoy as they come in! We’ve included this free printable! All you have to do is cut them out, tape them on a dowel, and smile at the camera. ๐Ÿ˜‰ These props & a camera lying next to it is all you need to greet them at the door when your date {and/or guests} come in! It doubles as darling decor as well!
Then have fun with your guests while playing a game of croquet. I almost beat my husband… almost. ๐Ÿ˜‰
If you don’t have a croquet set or that’s just not your style, you can go for a simpler game of cards… play your favorite card game and for fun, give the Queen of Hearts special powers!
Finally, put on an “Alice in Wonderland” movie. I chose the new Tim Burton Version. I really enjoyed his twist on the story. You can download and watch it instantly on Amazon.

Don’t forget to serve some cute light refreshments with these cute “Eat Me” and “Drink Me” tags (so I guess it’s not really dinner and a movie . . . more like treats and a movie). I have included the free tags here.

Lemon Blossom Cookies
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup fresh or bottled lemon juice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Glaze:
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
3-5 drops yellow food coloring (optional- I used about 5)

Directions:
In large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar. Mix well until creamy and combined. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Pour in the lemon juice and mix well until dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for about an hour.

Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut with small circle cutter (I used 1-1/2 inch). Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake at 400 degrees for about 7-8 minutes. Remove to cool.

Combine glaze ingredients and stir with a spoon until lumps disappear. Spoon a little bit into center of each cookie and spread around with the back of a spoon. Make more glaze if needed. Allow to dry for an hour (if you can wait that long) and enjoy!

Makes 4-5 dozen cookies.

Recipe adapted from Southern Plate.
