I am always looking for new recipes using bananas because despite my healthy eating intentions, I never seem to eat them before they are brown.
These were a delicious treat with just the right hint of banana {and without tons of sugar and butter}!
Cocoa Banana Bars Recipe:
(Makes 20 slices/bars)
Ingredients:
1 cup oatmeal (not quick)
1 cup self rising flour
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 medium bananas, mashed
1 cup self rising flour
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 medium bananas, mashed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9 x13 inch pan. Combine melted butter, cocoa powder, milk and banana in a small bowl. Place oatmeal, flour and sugar in a mixing bowl, mix well. Add wet ingredients into flour mixture, stir until well incorporated. Spoon into prepared pan, and level the top with a back of a spoon or spatula. Bake for 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Let sit in the pan for 5 minutes, slice while they are still warm.

This looks tasty! I always freeze my brown bananas for smoothies!
Yummy! This looks so good. I always end up with those bananas too. I think it’s a subconscious thing. So I can make treats.
There are always bananas on our counters too!! I think banana baked goods are the best!!! These sound great!!!
I made this today! I had exactly three bananas left that no one was about to eat. Perfect recipe! It was very easy to put together. The only thing I did different from the recipe was add vanilla and almond extract along with some slivered almonds. Tasty!
