Thanksgiving Wood Craft Project (Now for sale in our store!)

Print Friendly

Well, you asked for it and we listened! We know that many of you don’t have access to a wood craft store and wanted to have the unfinished wood craft projects shipped directly to you . . . and we are so excited to announce that you can buy the projects right here in our Six Sisters’ Store! Today is the first day that it is actually opened and we might have a couple of bugs to still work out, but it is up and running and we are happy to show you the first couple of items we will be carrying!

Just in time for Thanksgiving . . . these darling letters will be the perfect decor for the holiday! The “a” has been replaced with a fun pumpkin . . . these unfinished wood letters are available to purchase in our store for $17.50.
This set of pumpkins is also available in our store for $6.85. They look so cute when they are paired with the “Thanks” and cute even by themselves! And right now, we have a flat shipping price in our store- so whether you by one item or both items, your shipping cost will be the same!
Both the “Thanks” and the pumpkins will arrive unfinished, letting you decorate them any way you want. It would be cute to Mod Podge some fun paper on the letters or the pumpkins, or use glitter to jazz them up a bit . . . when I made mine, I took the simple route . . .
First I sprayed all the letters with a brown spray paint (I LOVE spray paint! It’s so quick!).
Then I painted my pumpkin orange and my little stem brown. The pumpkin comes with a small circle that attaches to the front center of the pumpkin to give it a 3D effect. :)
I felt like my pumpkin was lacking something and decided to try a glaze/antiqued look on it . . . I mixed together some cream, brown, and black paint and got a beautiful color like this:
I painted a thin layer on my pumpkin (I started on the back first, just to test it out) and then quickly wiped it off with a slightly damp rag. The longer you leave the paint on, the more it will soak in . . . I kind of played around with it until I got it to be the exact color I wanted.
I really liked the end result . . . it gave the pumpkin a little more depth. I then sanded down the edges of the letters and the pumpkin and then glued the pumpkin middle on using hot glue. I tied some pale green ribbon around the stem and ta-da! I love the finished product: simple and cute. :)
I used the same process on the set of pumpkins, but tied raffia around the stem instead of ribbon and ended up loving that look too!
There are really so many cute ways you could decorate these crafts . . . this is just one idea. If you purchase either of these items from our store, we would love to see a picture of your finished product and post it on our blog for everyone to see!
So, if you are interested, feel free to head over to our store and check it out!
More projects and unfinished wood crafts will be coming soon!!
