In honor of a new Chik-Fil-A opening down the street from us, we decided to give these a whirl! They really tasted so close to the real thing!

(And you don't feel so bad about eating them because they are homemade, right?!)
Homemade Chik-fil-A Nuggets
(Recipe from A Zesty Bite)
Ingredients:
1 lg egg
1 cup milk
1 lb. skinless and boneless chicken breasts
1-1/4 cup flour
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder
canola oil for frying
1 lg egg
1 cup milk
1 lb. skinless and boneless chicken breasts
1-1/4 cup flour
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder
canola oil for frying
Preparation:
In a large bowl whisk milk and egg together
Place chicken on counter and cut into cubed bite size pieces; trim any fat that you may see
Put the chicken in the milk mixture and mix so that all is coated and place in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
In another large bowl combine the dry ingredients listed above and stir
In cast iron pot or sauce pan pour in oil so that its at least an inch deep on med/high heat
Remove the chicken from refrigerator and place about 8 pieces in milk mixture and then into the flour mixture
Make sure all the chicken is coated with the flour and then place into the hot oil
Cook each side for at least 2-3 minutes or until golden brown (You want to make sure that chicken is no longer pink so you can cut one piece to test it out)
Place the chicken on some paper towels to soak up any oil
Repeat the same steps with the rest of the chicken and serve

ReplyDeleteStop by for a visit!
I am so glad you enjoyed the nuggets. They were so delicious.
ReplyDeleteChick Fil A frys everything in peanut oil according to their signs posted on the drive thru, it really makes a difference with the taste, and probably increased the calories, lol!
ReplyDeleteJust in case you want to add something...I use to work at CFA and they put a bit of pickle juice in their marinade. It adds a lot!
ReplyDeleteI marinate my chicken bites in dill pickle juice for a couple of hours and then I just pour out the juice and batter them to fry. It tastes just like Chic Filet's nuggets!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a teenager I worked in a Chick-fil-a and they fry everything in Peanut oil. Might help if you try this at home:) Looks great.
ReplyDeleteChick-fil-a uses a pressure cooker, but I'm still going to try this one. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI do the exact same thing, but with one exception . . . into the egg and milk mixture, I put just a splash of dill pickle juice . . . A long time ago, I bought a tray of nuggets for a party, and asked for an ingredient list as some folks had allergies . . . listed as an ingredient was pickle juice . . . makes a big difference!!
ReplyDeleteif u got the ingred. list please share LOL! ^^^^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteI made these last night, and they are so good! This recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing it!

Andrea
