Gnocchi with Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Gnocchi and Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

I purchased the Gnocchi in the store. Every store should carry at least one brand of Gnocchi. I bought mine at Walmart. You can also make your own Gnocchi but I find store bought is A LOT easier and still tastes good.
I just followed the directions on the back of the box which were to Bring 8 cups of water and a pinch of salt to a boil. Put the Gnocchi in and boil for 4 minutes or until the Gnocchi float to the top.

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

1 pound of ground Turkey (you could use Beef)
1/2 medium onion, diced
2-3 cloves of Garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained
1 (8 oz)can tomato sauce
1 can tomato paste
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 to 2 Tbs. dried basil
1 Tbs. dried oregano
2 Tbs. sugar
pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Brown Ground Turkey with onion and garlic, drain. Add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine everything. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered for about 30 minutes or until sauce is at your desired thickness. Serve over Gnocchi. Add Parmeasan cheese on top.

Make the sauce first and then start the Gnocchi when there is 10 minutes left of the sauce to simmer.

This makes A LOT of sauce so froze the rest and served over noodles the next week.

The red wine vinegar was a horrible idea! I’ve never cooked with it before, just used it in homemade salad dressings. It was all I could taste! I didn’t care for it. I added beef broth and lots of sugar and pepper and I could still really taste the vinegar. If I were to make it again I would substitute it with red wine or beef broth.
