Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes {Rachael Ray Style}

I found this Rachael Ray recipe and tweaked it a little bit . . . it has been one of our favorites for a couple of years now! (I have always made it using ground turkey and Jared never even knew! It tastes just like ground beef in this recipe!)

1 1/4 lb ground turkey
1 medium red onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
3 Tbsp brown sugar
3 Tbsp red wine vinegar
1 Tbsp grill seasoning (like BBQ seasoning)
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp hot sauce (optional)

Heat large skillet on medium-high heat. Add ground turkey. When meat is browned, add onions and peppers.
Make BBQ sauce in separate bowl while turkey, onions, and peppers cook. Mix brown sugar, vinegar, grill seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, and hot sauce.
When veggies are tender, add BBQ sauce to skillet, reduce heat to medium and cook for 5 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 more minutes.
We love to serve this with potato salad! :) Yum.

  1. Thank you so much for this recipe. I have linked it to my first ever Menu Plan Monday. I can't wait to make them, except I forgot the ground turkey at the grocer so I have to make a return trip. Thank you!
