Easy Guacamole Recipe

I have been wanting salsa and guacamole all the time lately!  I easily go through a jar and a half every week just on my own (that sounds really gross, I know).  I love the idea of it being already made and just buying and eating it, but it is over $4 for a small package of it at the grocery store!
This recipe is so much cheaper, fresh and delicious!

Easy Guacamole Recipe:

Ingredients:
2 ripe avocados
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ripe tomato, chopped
1 lime, juiced
Salt and pepper, to taste
    Directions:
Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl. Stir in onion, garlic, tomato, lime juice, salt and pepper. Season with remaining lime juice and salt and pepper to taste. Chill for half an hour to blend flavors.

    1. Hi there! I found your guacamole recipe on clipix.com and made it this weekend. It was a delicious hit, plus I loved the minimal ingredients needed. Can't wait to make it again. Thanks! - Erica

    2. I love guacamole! I will definitely try this :)

Salsa is so easy to make and so great fresh!

I make up a different recipe every time I make it.

Chop up tomato, onion, garlic and a little drizzle of olive oil.

I like to add mango/corn/peach, especially with fish tacos.

      Cilantro & pepper to taste.

      Peppers are also good!!!

    4. Guacamole should always be made with onion, tomato and cilantro--don't chop just the leaves, chop the stems too as it gives it more flavor.

The use of garlic is bizarre--and I say this coming from a Hispanic household (must be an American palette as authentic guacamole is not made with this). If you want your guacamole to last a few days, don't add the salt, just the lime juice to prevent browning. Salt to taste once you've served your own portion. Use plastic wrap and pat down the wrap to the guacamole, cover and refrigerate and enjoy the next day.

The same goes for when you're making Pico de Gallo (tomato, onion, & cilantro salsa) add a touch of lemon/lime juice --NO SALT if you want it to last a few days. Just add salt to taste once you've served your own portion. If you put salt on the salsa and you plan on using it the next day, you'll have a very watery salsa with wilted looking tomatoes.

    5. You can also put the avocado pit (whole) in with the guacamole dip to prevent it from browning. I think it looks kinda cool that way too :)

    6. I just checked out your guac recipe, and that is the way I've made it for years, however, I add a can of roasted green chile's to everything mexican that I make, and even sometimes cilantro. The green chiles make all the difference. I love your salsa recipe though, been making it for over a year now. But again, I add green chile's and sometimes cilantro (I have to be in the mood for cilantro). And always fresh lime juice. Yum. Thanks.
